About:

The Hapeville Depot Museum will open submissions for the Hapeville Depot Scholars Program, a 12 week summer internship at the Hapeville Depot Museum. Depot Scholars conduct research and independent exhibitions on topics related to the Depot site including but not limited to industry, workers and the environment. This program includes conducting new research and working with staff on museum wide offerings spanning exhibitions to educational programs, audience engagement, and beyond.

Two candidates are invited to join the site June 3, 2024 – August 30, 2024. Through a combination of research and hands-on projects, Depot Scholars spearhead new research while gaining professional experience.

Activities May Include:

  • Oversee primary research that concludes in an extensive project, presentation, and paper based on work throughout the summer.

  • Work closely with the Musuem Manager, and other staff on projects that may include research, exhibitions, educational programs, and gallery events.

  • Provide tours for visitors.

  • Participate in staff meetings to learn about the structural, strategic, and creative decisions involved in the day-to-day operations of the museum.

  • Attend monthly field trips and site visits to museums and cultural venues.

Qualifications:

The Hapeville Depot Museum seeks motivated rising college Juniors and Seniors as well as graduate students who are pursuing careers in history, anthropology, art, museums, collection and exhibition management, and/or museum education.

Applicants should be resourceful, sincere, passionate, have a serious determination regarding pursuing knowledge, truth and art. Applicants must thrive working with the public.

Participation in the entire program is required. The typical work-week is Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5pm with flexibility in regards to University requirements, needs of the individual Scholar and museum events.
